All-Time Olympics Medals Table (Country wise/.  Rio Olympics 2016 are into its final stages and United States as usual leading the overall medals table so far. While surprisingly Great Britain has put on a strong show with 18 golds and 45 overall medals (as of 16 August). Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt did not disappoint in potentially their last ever Olympic games. While some new comes has lit up the games with incredible performances.

We decided to take a look at history All-time medals table (country wise) and there is no surprise as United States leads the all-time table with 2399 medals including 976 golds since 1896 to 2016. Below is the list of top 20 countries with most gold medals and overall tallies.

International Olympic Committee do not publish any official all-time table list. They only publish all-time sport wise list of medals tables and we had to dig deep and count each sport and category medals to come up with this all-time medals table. The ranking is based on total medal tally.

Soviet Union and Russia are counter as two different countries and rightly so because Soviet Union included many states which after became countries who took part in Olympics on their own. While Germany and East Germany are also counted as different countries in the table above.
